Friendship Square Quilt Show CANCELED
Friendship Square Quilt Guild hosts a Quilt Show every other year so that members can display their beautiful work. The pictured opportunity quilt is hand appliqued and hand quilted by members of the Guild.
Opportunity Quilt: Wildflowers in Bloom Hand Quilted and Hand appliqued 84″ X 100″
Pearl Pereira’s design was used with permission. Drawing March 15th 3:30pm.
Opportunity Quilt tickets are $1 each or 6 for $5, and can be purchased from any guild member, at our meetings, at various community events, or at the Quilt Show.
Money raised from the Opportunity Quilt raffle will assist the guild in philanthropy projects such as:
- Quilts for Wounded Veterans – quilts made for injured veterans returning from duty.
- Kumfort Quilts – quilts given to “at risk” children and others with special needs.
- Beads of Courage Bags for children with cancer. Each child receiving a treatment or procedure for cancer receives a bead for their courage. The Beads of Courage Bags give them a place to store their “bead strings”.
- Seven Stars Foundation – 318 quilts made by guild members were given to children of military families who attended camp at Big Bear this past summer.
Funds are also used to encourage the continuance of the art of quilting to members by bringing in speakers and hosting workshops.
In the main ballroom you will see more than 120 hand crafted quilts made by members of Friendship Square Quilt Guild displayed. The mix of quilts will include traditional and contemporary work. Also be sure to check out the many Vendors who will have a variety of items for sale.
Opportunity Quilts to Benefit Breast Cancer Patients – As a tradition with every quilt show our members offer many small opportunity quilts with proceeds to benefit local women in their fight against breast cancer.
El Camino Room
The Boutique will feature a variety of hand crafted items made by guild members. Items will include tote bags, jackets, knitted scarves and much more. In addition the Quilt Sale will have over 70 quilts to choose from. Some are made especially for kids and all are reasonably priced.
In the Activities Room you can view samples of the many philanthropic projects the guild supports. Deposit the ticket you receive at the door and have a chance to win a beautiful Basket filled with hand crafted items and other “goodies”. You may also purchase additional tickets to increase your chances of winning! A special exhibit will showcase members quilts from recent Paint Chip Challenge. After drawing three paint chip cards members were challenged to use those colors in a quilt, wall hanging or pillow. Be sure to check out the Silent Auction where you can bid on a variety of items. Just get your bid in early for a chance to win something special.
